So, the main reason I asked Fightin' to let me pen a piece for this blog is the following: I'm unhappy with the Government, and their inability to do the little things required to keep things moving. In shorter terms, why can't the men and women in D.C. representing us, the citizens; remove their heads from their respective anuses(anii?) and pass a budget?
This is the email I sent to Fightin' that brought what you're reading now:
This is spurred by the fact that these assholes in DC can't pass a budget to save their life. They've been kicking the goddamn can down the road for over a fucking year now, and because of this, and Big O's (and not the beloved and FIRST PLACE ORIOLES!)
determination that he won't grant an extension again on the budget
(mainly because of the republican controlled House), I'll be out of work
starting, well, now.
Yes, that's right, as of 12:01am, April 9, 2011, I as well as many
other government and contract workers, along with the currently
deployed military, and more than likely millions of other federal
funded workers, will be out of work/not getting paid for the first
time since 1995. Funny, who was in office in '95 when the government
shut down? Oh yeah, Clinton. Further proof to me(as if I needed
anymore) that democrats really are not democratic. They want it their
way or the highway. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm pissed off at the
republicans too, because they're taking their political partner to the
woodshed for a whooping over the atrocities that have happened over
the past few years of the Bush/Obama presidencies, and that's fine.
But, there comes a point where you stop playing politics and get YOUR
FUCKING JOB DONE. If I/we played this kind of game at work, how long
'till we'd be fired?
Ugh. This is a tragedy on so many levels. Maybe travesty is more
appropriate, I'm not sure. I know one thing is for sure. Come 2012, if
the world doesn't end, I'm printing out a list of names of every
senator and every house member and voting the exact opposite of who's
in there now.
Now, obviously things have sort of changed in the past 24 hours. But the fact still remains. They didn't pass a real budget. Instead they again kicked the can down the road(for lack of a better term) and decided that April 15, 2011 makes things better than April 8, 2011. Really, what's going to get accomplished in a few more days, that hasn't been able to be accomplished in about a years worth of time?
Sure, republicans got what they wanted, sort of. And the democrats got what they wanted, sort of. But in the end, who are the real losers? Us. You and Me. The American people. The hard working, average citizen. Why? How? You ask. Simple: Without a federal budget programs can't be funded, workers get furloughed, all kinds of things come to a grinding, screeching halt. Active military was slated not to get paid. It's a huge stress on everyone outside of Capital Hill. This is why I'm upset, as it is now 100% painfully obvious to me that the politicians really don't give a crap about us. If they did, they'd put their "differences" aside and come up with a plausible solution.
Cut backs are needed, reform is needed across the board, and anyone who doesn't see that, realize that, or notice that; may be deaf/dumb/blind/on the government teet. Personally, I have my own views of what is needed to be done to achieve reform, but that's neither here nor there, my biggest beef is getting the job done. Get the job you were voted to do, done. Pass a budget, do the work of the people, be what you're supposed to be. A line for the people to express their displeasure/happiness with the government. Protect the hard working, prosecute the criminals, and leave everything else alone.
It's not your job to delve into gun control. That's a right. It's not your job to regulate life choices. It's not your job to tell me what to eat, where to go, etc. It IS your job to be my vein to the government. Do the work of the people, or get the hell out.
That's all, folks.

Everyone has a budget, why doesn't the Government?

USA Screwed & FedGov Budget
Next time you debate someone on military spending versus entitlement programs and how the former instead of the latter is bankrupting us, make sure they see this chart.
Yep, that's right, 58% of all Tax Revenue AND federal borrowings go to fund social security, medicare/medicaid, and unemployment insurance / other entitlements. Defense, a mere 20% of the total budget (or roughly $700 billion) amounts to only 32% of total tax revenues. This shows that defense spending, though large and impressive and still as much or more than all other countries' combined spending, is NOT a large number when compared to social programs. Defense budget moaners and code pink members please take note that building planes, manning ships, and fighting foreign wars of aggression would be fully funded and met without sending us further into debt all by itself. Unfortunately propping up failing social programs that rely upon an ever growing society just can't make that argument. Further, this graphic shows just how large and damaging Obama's budget deficits truly are.
Once the morons whom get this education via these pie charts, I urge them to take the full crash course found here (or here).
Last, just for the record to all those enviro-wackos out there...please realize that since you champion reduced populations the world over, you need to make a sacrifice of a reduction in people or a reduction in welfare. Returning to a popular theme around the globe, It's ALL ABOUT Demo(graphic)s! The USA currently produces about 2.1 children per adult, which is the bare minimum for population growth. (Actually, it is the threshold for population maintenance / growth). Since most of the social programs are funded via taking revenues from working and young people (those paying into the system), an aging and or stagnant population trend turns the traditional pyramid scheme upside down (since the tax base will be the same at best or declining at worst).
Obama has gotten one thing of his presidency right, he has certainly brought us change.

Fed, FedGov Budget, Purchase Power of the Dollar: Three Things that Need Fixing
Yesterday I read this detailing two major things (discounting the The Mogambo Guru ranting style). First, the value of the dollar today, is less than what a quarter dollar would purchase 40 years ago in 1971. Second, the US government spent a cumulative $15 billion from 1789 until 1900 (not adjusting for inflation, but you see the idea).
Yikes! Those are small numbers when compared to today's debt. Running the numbers, you get roughly .11% of the current country debt, was accumulated in the first 100 years of the Republic. YOWSA!
Which leads me to this posting over at BigGovernment.com, which details the history of money in the first of a several part series.
Click through, watch the video, get educated, and I'll post up the next part of the series when I see it.

Obama's Deficit Council Plans to Piss on Troops and Military
I am sure that this headline shocks no one, but it has really just torqued me the wrong way. I know that we really can't afford a lot of new military hardware, but, if we are printing up 105 billion in new paper between today and December 9th, why not just use those funds to finish the programs pentagon planers have said we actually need? It would serve to put people to work rather than enrich the big banks, and while it will be directly inflationary right away instead of sitting in an pseudo-inflationary trap, it might just well be the kick in the pants that we need.
Ok, not really, but here is the point: We've heard it time and time again that the USA spends more on defense than any other nation in the world. True. When you have to protect your vassal states, you have to spend more than they spend combined. However, the main point is that the President's new "deficit plan" goes directly to cutting defense when the total of social security, medicare, medicaid, and other discretionary spending more than doubles the entire defense budget, which does happen to be Constitutional in nature.
So, there ya have it, typical leftist, war apologists/appeasists go right for the jugular on the defense budget, mainly because it's not lucrative enough to buy votes come election time.

SHTF Preparation: State funding for EMT's Drugs Victim of Budget Cuts
Not that most of us will be able to prepare for this, but ZeroHedge.com is reporting that EMT's "high priority" drugs are in short supplies. Unfortunately, it appears that the FDA is also confirming this shortage as well.
Just further evidence of a decaying society wasting money on items it doesn't need. It's hard to prepare for a lack of emergency services when you can't get your hands on the stuff that the professionals can't get their hands on. Even if you were able to get a hold of trauma drugs it would not be in your best personal interest to use them without medical supervision. Let's hope the manufacturing shortfall and/or budgetary problems play themselves out so people can get the emergency medical attention that they deserve.
Never trust the state to do a man's work.
