Congressman Jerrymander: Re EPA Lead Ban CC Letter

Dear Mr. FightinBluHen51:

Thank you for sending me a copy of your recent letter to the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency regarding a possible ban of lead in sporting ammunition.

I feel very fortunate to be able to communicate regularly with the people of the 3rd Congressional District.  I travel home every evening – an opportunity many Members of Congress do not have – and find that I am able to do my job much better because I am in daily contact with the people I serve in the Congress.  I also appreciate hearing many different points of view as I consider issues in the House of Representatives.  I appreciate you letting me know of your concerns and hope that your correspondence elicits a satisfactory response.

Again, thank you for taking the time to contact me.  If I can be of assistance to you in the future, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Sincerely,
John Sarbanes
Member of Congress

I LOVE MY CONGRESS CRITTER!  (sarcasm)  What a tool!  Obviously, he wasn't forced to take a stand or issue an opinion since they backed down on their lead ammo ban.  Writing to me to tell me that you enjoy keeping in contact with your constituents just because it's what, good Congressman business practice?  Yeah, ohhhkay.  I knew I wouldn't expect to see a whole lot said by this no load, but don't patronize me with boring drivel.

"Elicits a satisfactory response?"  You didn't say ANYTHING about the topic at hand.  You find it fortunate for your reelection bid that 1) you have your daddy's name, 2) you're in a district Jerrymandered for your benefit, 3) and the EPA did you a favor and spared you having to take a position on this issue.  Look dude, we know your anti-gun, anti-hunting, anti-American tradition stance on damned near everything before you, so it isn't a surprise you jacked your we-we up into a whooo-haaaa and sat on the fence for this issue.  We wouldn't expect real leadership from you on any matter, just more 99% party line voting.

Face-palm!  Is there anyone out there who can unseat this guy?  Hell, I'd take another Dem over this yahoo!  Seriously!  I might even consider switching my registration!  Yes, I actually said that.

Congressman Gerrymander: Reply to the Unbudget Letter

I'm shocked I even got a response.  I feel sorry for the staffer that has me marked on the "have to respond, so don't do a good job" list.  See the edits below.

Dear Mr. FightinBluHen51

Thank you for contacting me about deficits and the national debt.  The national debt is a serious problem that requires our attention; I agree that we must act decisively to right our present fiscal course [that I voted for 99% of the time].

The irresponsible fiscal policies of the last decade [80 years and more specifically the last eighteen months] left our nation on precarious fiscal footing as we slid into the worst recession in a generation.  The impact of these policies cannot be reversed immediately and, without sustained economic growth, draconian spending cuts and tax increases will be required [which I will work to prevent, make sure we spend more, and HA, give me 100% of your paycheck since you work].  That is why there has been general consensus among economists and policy experts that in the near term, as a response to the recession, targeted tax cuts and government spending are a desirable form of economic stimulus [even though I will oppose them].  Although balanced budgets must be an essential piece of any long-term economic strategy, the responsible use of short-term stimulus provides a much-needed "shot in the arm" for our struggling economy [more Kenyan Keynesian garbage that I will help to give America in an effort to maintain my personal power.]

As the economy returns to sustainable growth [after OUR lost decade], and once we have pushed closer to full employment, we must take a serious look at all elements of spending and tax revenue in order to return to fiscal responsibility.  Last year, we made progress by enacting a statutory Pay-As-You-Go law to ensure that non-emergency spending or tax cuts are fully paid for elsewhere in budget [spend as you please bill in an effort to create more market chaos then the Country Class can deal with at one time].  Pay-Go was applied during the 1990s [by a more conservative Republican Congress and a pragmatic Bill Clinton] and, along with strong economic growth [which we now know was just another bubble created by the shameless Federal Reserve], helped us achieve the budget surpluses of that decade [that were raided social security funds that continue to perpetuate unfunded liabilities in the trillions of dollars].  But the law was allowed to expire in 2002.  I am also encouraged by the President's decision to create a national commission that will make independent recommendations to the Congress about policies to get our fiscal house in order [who's report is being withheld until after the November Elections].  The Commission's recommendations are likely to include tough choices about entitlements, tax revenue, and discretionary spending.  Make no mistake, enacting measures that will truly improve our fiscal condition will require shared sacrifice and real tradeoffs between government services and tax policy.  I will come to this debate [assuming that the gerrymandered district reelects me with overwhelming cemetery support] with the perspective that our budget policies should reflect our nation's values— ensuring opportunity and strengthening communities, promoting private enterprise and innovation [for later confiscation], and sharing the costs of government equitably [while redistributing to buy votes].  I look forward to your continued input on this issue and I will keep your views in mind when the [your letters of fantasy so I can have a good laugh over them with the good ole boys of both parties when] Congress considers relevant measures.

Again, I appreciate [am disgusted that I am] hearing from you. Please do not hesitate to contact me about other issues of concern to you in the future.

Sincerely,
John Sarbanes
Member of Congress

To Congressman Gerrymander, RE: the "Un"budget

Yesterday, I sent this letter to my no-load congressman in regards to the fact that the lame duck congress is refusing to pass a budget. Unfortunately, in the state of Marylandstan, if you have a D after your name it seems that the useful idiots will pull the lever for you no matter what; Repeatedly.

Congressman Sarbanes rode the coat tails of his daddy's retirement (another no load) to the 3rd Congressional District of MD. Of course, it doesn't hurt matters much that the geographical make up of that district is so strewn over central Maryland that it is carved out of a leftist's dream to give the good old Dem-machine the edge every single election. I will admit, his office doesn't hang up on your like Barbara Mikulski's office does (no joke).

Needless to say, this nitwit votes with his party 99% of the time (source), and it's assured that he will do the good party thing and keep his mouth shut yet again. Don't worry about the fact that he is supposed to represent his district and do his Constitutional duty by proposing and voting for an annual budget (Article I, Section VII).

Never before in modern history has this election year tactic been executed. I guess congress doesn't want to go on record and say that they've spent some $60,000.00 US taxpayer dollars on Hookah smoking Jordanian college students? (source). Oh well, I suppose our boys in harms way in Iraq and Afghanistan can keep on fighting on their last supplemental spending bill, no matter that the political leadership can't admit we've overspent the incomes of the next two generations.

We will see what kind of response the illustrious Congress Critter will grace us with this time. I'm sure he will have some staffer hand out some canned excuse replete with the usual self-shoulder-patting "I've accomplished x-y-z." Hopefully I will restrain myself not to say shove it until I punch the polling machine in November. I know you as well as I await his reply with bated breath.

Letter:
Congressman Sarbanes:

I must pose a very simple question to you: Why is it that you are allowing the democratic leadership to abscond on their Constitutional and legal duty to pass a budget for the 2011 fiscal year? Are you and your colleagues afraid to go on record in an election year when some 55 to 65% of the American public is fed up with the reckless spending in Washington?

Please remember that the citizens of your district, whom hired you, expect you to do your duty and vote for a budget. Make the hard choices and please stop playing the political kick the can down the road game.

Sincerely,

FightinBluHen51
