QOTD: Get up, Stand Up!

I don't stand for the black man's side, I don' t stand for the white man's side.I stand for God's side.
Often times, the Google Trends gadget I have on my home page makes me shake my head in disgust at the ignorance of my fellow humans.  Fortunately, Skynets (aka Google) isn't doing that today, and it made me see that one of the best musicians of all time had an anniversary today (that of his untimely death).
Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds!
The singer I am referencing is of course Bob Marley (as today marks 30 years since his death).  Certainly, Marley is not an individual that I would agree with in every facet of life, but he did understand nobility, integrity, freedom, and rights.  Those are personal characteristics I have to admire!

Rest Peacefully Bob, and know well that your music is still delivering the goods to this day.

ETA:  WaPo Blog Post here (and you should know how I hate the WaPo) has a nice write up on the Jamaican National Hero.

Bankers or Us

Late yesterday afternoon, I noticed that "Bankers or Us" was the hottest search on Google.  Seems that a piece by Alex Jones is what fanned the flames up, and while I refuse to repost any of that whack job's work, he makes some interesting points.

So, consider this your reference to go forth and educate.

Fun with Google Trends: Kyle Bass

It has since slipped to No. 2, but hedge fund manager Kyle Bass was the most Googled person in all of the USA this afternoon.  Seems that he was on CNBC giving almost all of their views heart attacks today as he discussed market conditions and more importantly sovereign debt problems.  Zero Hedge has the coverage.

Google Trends and the Sad State of Our Country

You know it's a sad state of American affairs when you see more people Googling Lindsay Lohan's rumored death than they actually Google the news and economics. This information is what greeted me this morning on my iGoogle home page's "Trends" widget box.

Trends is a nifty thing to follow in your spare time and usually returns some interesting insights.  Perhaps, us news hounds know how to better retrieve what we're looking for than following the rumors of celebrity gossip?  Either way, I am often mortified that my fellow Americans still haven't woken up like us informed citizens and I hope they find the light sooner rather than later.
